UTS Events/Competition

  • Athletics is conducted all year round but the types of events and competitions vary throughout.

  • A standard athletics season in Australia starts in October and ends the September of the following year - so one season is conducted over one summer.

  • October - March is where the majority of track and field competitions take place with the NSW Summer Series taking place along with State and National Championships.

  • The NSW Summer Series is the interclub based competition which the majority of NSW Athletes compete in. It includes traditional style athletics carnivals with a range of track and field events so you can run, throw and jump for the club.

  • From April onwards through winter, there is a greater emphasis on long distance running, road running, cross country and marathon running. Including the associated State and National Championships for those events.

  • The club also hosts its own competition throughout the summer and is called Northern Zone. It is a competition aimed at recreational level athletes and those wanting to learn the basics of athletics.
