UTS Northern Suburbs Returns to Its Roots with New Club Uniform
2012 marked the beginning of a new era for UTS Northern Suburbs Athletics Club with the launch of its redesigned uniform - drawing inspiration from the Club’s original kit worn by Norths athletes in the 1930s. This update comes after nearly 15 years with the previous design.
The new range includes a men’s singlet, women’s singlet, women’s crop top, and a Club competition shirt. Each item features the Club’s traditional colours - red and black - crafted into a bold, contrasting design that symbolises UTS Norths’ competitive spirit and leadership on and off the track.
After much consideration, this design was chosen for its balance of tradition and modern appeal. It combines a sleek, minimalist red front (highlighting the athlete’s competition number) with organic black line details that convey speed and endurance. Black stripes near the sleeves add a subtle nod to the Club’s heritage.
The uniforms are made using advanced sublimated sportswear technology, where heat-transferred graphics are applied to high-performance fabrics. Singlets and shirts use lightweight, breathable “sports dry” material ideal for competition, while the crop top is made from form-fitting nylon lycra for comfort and performance. Each piece has been custom-cut to suit the demands of both track and field athletes.
Affordability was also a key consideration. At just $40 per item, the uniform offers exceptional value for its quality - designed to last well into the future.
The introduction of this new uniform from the 2012/13 summer season represents not just a style update, but a return to tradition, celebrating the Club’s history while looking forward to continued growth and success. The striking red and black will once again make a strong statement on the track, in the field, and across cross country courses.
