Anthony, Emily Dominate
Emily Hopper and Anthony Collum dominated their events at the NSW All Schools Warm-up event at SOPAC on Saturday.
Anthony was a convincing winner of the boys 100m in close to pb time, while Emily cruised to victory in the girls 1500m, beating several older competitors.
Other Ron Bendall squad members to perform well were Will Richardson who ran a pb in his 400m, Bella O’Grady who was just 0.01s off her 100m pb and Matt Wood who was close to his 100m pb despite a tardy start.
Veteran athlete Jackie Bezuidenhout, 47, preparing for next month’s World Masters Championships in Brazil, broke the 13s barrier and ran her fastest 100m for two years to easily take out her heat.

Dev and Matt lead the way
Ron Bendall squad members Dev Higgins and Matt Wood have led Barker College to victory in the NSW Schools Knockout Competition.
Dev and fellow squad member Tony Wood were members of Barker’s all-conquering senior boys team while Matt was the star performer in the victorious boys intermediate team.
Running his first 400m since taking home the bronze medal in the u/18 years national championship at Perth in April, Dev turned in another sub-50s performance in his favourite event. He also ran a spectacular anchor leg (200m) in the medley relay to lift his school from sixth place to third.
Matt won the intermediate boys 100m hurdles in his first hit-out over the sticks since returning from injury and was second in the 200m. He also helped Barker to a convincing win the the sprint medley relay.
Katrina Hunt handed in slashing performance to dominate the 100m hurdles and was second fastest in the 100m to help her school Roseville into second place in the senior girls competition.
