Bev Jaye

Level 3 Throws


Bev was born in South Africa, married an Australian and settled in Sydney. He played rep soccer and rugby at high school and was the schools athletic and rugby captain. Bev also won the state 200m yards title. Bev became a throws coach when there was no one to coach his boys. This lead to an officiating role for local competitions. Later Bev became involved in the administration of little athletics. At the 1982 common wealth games, Bev was the chief fall judge in discus. He was the chief judge at the 2000 para Olympics as well as a coach for one of the competitors. He has coached champions in state primaries, secondary schools, little athletics, senior and masters. Coached Ruth Firth, Helen Searle who are both world masters champions. Bev’s first success was his eldest son, who won the state primary shot put and represented his high school at state in discus.
