The Upgrade Timeline
Willoughby City Council has confirmed that construction will commence the week of 13 April 2026. The anticipated duration of the project is 18 to 20 weeks, subject to weather conditions. We will keep you updated as the council progresses towards completion.
Final Sessions at Rotary Athletics Field (RAF)
Before the field closes for the upgrade, we have secured a few final training slots at our usual RAF grounds until Thursday 9 April.
All bookings still subject to Willoughby Council Ground Wet Weather and Ground Closure policy.
Temporary Training Base: Mowbray Public School Oval
While the RAF is out of action, our primary training base will shift to a new location.
Mowbray Primary Oval - Schedule (6 April to 23 July):
Lighting at Mowbray will be active from 5:00 pm on these days.
This is for run program events only and does not include any throw or jump facilities. You will need to make alternative arrangements due to the specific event specialisation and safety pre-requisites.
Because there is a slight overlap between our final RAF bookings and the start of our Mowbray booking during the week of 6 April, please confirm directly with your coach about which venue your specific squad will be using during that transition week.
We genuinely appreciate your patience and flexibility while these essential works are completed. It will be fantastic for the club to return to a brand-new, upgraded synthetic track later this year!
If you have any questions or need further clarification, please contact your coaches who have been sent regular updates on the status and progress of the field improvement. Other regular emails and social updates will also be made to keep track of the improvements.
