Lectured at IAAF L4 sprints coach education course

Coached Australians to qualify for five consecutive Olympic Games. 

Coached two athletes into the 400m Finals at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games where his protégés Maree Holland (50.24sec) and Darren Clark (44.38sec) set the current NSW Open Records. Clark’s time remains the national record. Coached Clark to set meet record in winning 400m Gold at 1990 Commonwealth Games,  and to set a national record in winning bronze at the 1993 World Indoor Championships.

Managed and coached the NSW men’s and women’s teams to win both 4x100m and both 4x400m at 1989 Australian Relays Championships in Hobart.

Developed three schoolgirls to compete in IAAF World Junior Championships in Seoul 1992 and Lisbon 1994.

Coached Kylie Hanigan to represent in the 4x100m final and the 4x400m relays at 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.

Leads the organisation of the highly acclaimed free AthleticsNSW 400 Fastrack development program now in 2018 into its 10th year of operations. Has been lead coach and mentor to personal coaches and parent group since 2009 for this ongoing sprints project.

Mike is an Athletics Australia Life Member. His coaching philosophy and practices have received high praise in the form of extensive interviews conducted by the World Speed Summit (10,000 coach membership), the ALTIS world athletics centre, SpeedEndurance.com (world’s most popular sprint coaching site with more than 4,000 hits per day) and in the The Sprinter’s Compendium book published in late 2017.

Mike is a qualified coach in Olympic Weightlifting and Basketball and is a strength, power, speed consultant with former protégés including a Wimbledon men’s singles finalist, a Sydney Kings captain, an Opals squad member and a Lakers NBA draft pick.
