Announcement Rotary Athletics Track
MAY, 19 2017
UTS Norths is pleased to announce that the grass at Rotary Athletic Field has been laid. As we are now entering the cooler months of winter, it is expected the field will remain out of action until Spring to allow the roots to take hold and grass to grow. The fence surrounding the field will remain up to protect grass while it takes root. We will keep all club members updated on a monthly basis of the progress.

UTS Norths Athletes Win 3 Medals at the NSW Cross Country Relays
MAY, 30 2017
Women’s U20 – Gold
Men’s Open - Bronze
Women’s Masters 55+ - Bronze
UTS Norths increased their medal count from 2 to 3 this year in the NSW Cross Country Relay Championships at Miranda.
The highlight was a Gold medal effort by our under 20 Women’s team of Izzy Thornton-Bott, Sarah Reece, Emma Baptist and Sarah McDermott.
Sarah McDermott ran the fastest split with a 9m 44s run on the testing Miranda course. Sarah then backed up to run last in the women’s Open event and run an extra kilometre. The Open team Eliza Barton, Elese Gallen, Bianca Grimaldi and Sarah McDermott finished a creditable 4th.
The Men’s Open team of Jack Stapleton, Ed Goddard, Leo Peterson and Ruairidh MacDonald were not able to defend their title from last year but still finished a very creditable 3rd against tough competition from the Randwick Botany and Bankstown teams. The fastest split was by Jack Stapleton with 12:39 for the 4km split.
The Women’s Masters 55+ team of Deborah Drennan, Margaret Thomas, Nancy Lloyd and Dorothy Kass ran very well to win the Bronze medal in their event. Deb Drennan had the fastest split with a 20:00 for the 4km course.
