Results from the Athletics World Championships in Doha
OCTOBER 13, 2019
The Athletics World Championships have been completed in Doha so it’s Congratulations to the three UTS Norths athletes who represented their country at the championships.
Carley Thomas, 19 in December, coached by Mauricia Powell, ran 5th in her heat of the 800 metres in 2:04.65. She was 5th at the bell and finished well to miss the qualifier for the semi-finals by just 1.21 seconds.
Bella O’Grady, 22, coached by Penny Gillies, was originally selected for the 4 x 400 metres relay but was granted an entry in the individual 400 metres only a few days before the championships began. Bella ran 8th in her heat in 54.99. She did got get a run in the 4 x 400 metres relay team.
Kristie Edwards, 19, coached by Melinda Gainsford, was thrilled to be part of the 4 x 100 metres relay squad. Although she did not get a run in the relay, she benefited greatly from the experience of being part of the Australian team competing on the world stage.
