Congratulations Jim. Northern Zone is the longest running zone competition in Sydney having been going since 1974.
Northern Zone will continue for two more Saturdays on 6 and 13 April to provide competition to the many Masters athletes who are preparing for the Australian Masters Championships to be held in Melbourne from 26 to 29 April.
Vale Charles Hobden
APRIL 01, 2019
We were very sorry to hear the sad news that one of our Masters athletes Charles Hobden passed away recently after losing his battle with cancer. Charles, 82, was an excellent sprinter and won a number of medals in the sprint events. He represented Australia in the World Masters Championships and claimed a state record in 2017. He was also a regular at the Northern Zone competition.
In his younger years, Charles was a very good cricketer. He was an outstanding off spinner who played for the Hunters Hill Pirates for nearly 40 years. He played for his club until well into his 70’s and often topped the averages with his magical spin bowling.
Thank you to The Weekly Times for some of this information.
